18th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge Is This Sunday

Celebrities and Chicagoans will once again brave the cold to take the Special Olympics Chicago Polar Plunge 10 a.m. this Sunday at North Avenue Beach.

Spring-like, sunny weather is on tap for those jumping in, with forecasts calling for a high of 52 degrees and low of 34.

“Chicago Fire” actor David Eigenberg has already announced he will be joining the plungers. Past celebrity plungers include “Parenthood” star Dax Shepard, Lady Gaga, “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon and Vince Vaughn.

More than 5,000 people are already registered, according to a Facebook post from Special Olympics Chicago.

Registration is still open, and all participants receive a t-shirt, free photo downloads, parking and food at the after-party. A minimum of $200 fundraising is required from all participants, with the proceeds going to the Chicago chapter of Special Olympics.
