Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Ariana Granda and The Chainsmokers are among a host of musicians speaking up about US gun laws following the deadly and tragic events that took place on Sunday in Las Vegas.

On Sunday, the worst US mass shooting in recent history took the lives of 59 music fans and injured more than 500. Following the events which sent shockwaves across the country, a host of musicians have taken to social media to speak up about gun laws. Using their voices to reach out to millions across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, they demand stricter gun control laws.

John Mayer posted a thread of emotive tweets expressing his stance. Questioning why lawmakers and influencers, he said, “if you’re not at least trying to fix this, you’re effectively telling the country in your (in)actions that this is somehow acceptable.” Lady Gaga also used her voice to reach out to almost 72m followers asking people to come together.

Ariana Grande, who has only recently come out of the terror of the attack during her Manchester concert earlier in May this year, said her “heart is breaking for Las Vegas”. And The Chainsmokers also posted on Instagram expressing their devastation.

Festivals are supposed to be fun, safe places that play a huge part in our lives.

After so many devastating terrorist attacks to have touched the live music industry in the past few years, it’s so important to have artists we turn to and respect speaking up about issues that matter to us all.
